POLAND | Seminar concerning juvenile foreigners’ right to education

The Ombudsman of Poland has organized a seminar entitled “Juvenile foreigners in the Polish school system - law and practice”. During the meeting an ombudsman report concerning the realization of juvenile foreigners’ right to education was presented. The report was based on studies carried out in 2011-2013 in primary schools, lower secondary schools, centres for foreigners seeking refugee status and guarded centres for foreigners.

The ombudsman’s activity aims at providing adequate protection to vulnerable groups of society, whose rights are especially susceptible to infringement is one the ombudsman’s priorities. The gathering was attended by representatives of the Education Ministry, the Office for Foreigners, the Polish Border Guard, the Education Office, schools directors as well as NGOs.
