IOI EUROPE/SPAIN | Seminar on human right to gender identity

The Ombudsman of the Basque Country (“Ararteko”) and the European Region of the IOI jointly organize a seminar on “The Right to Gender Identity and Affective-Sexual Diversity. Challenges for Equality” to be held in Bilbao on 20 and 21 May 2013.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Rights have been widely claimed and asserted by civil society organisations. LGBT Rights have also been progressively recognised by national and international bodies. However, in most places around the world, these rights have not been formally recognised yet.

The Ombudsman of the Basque Country (“Ararteko”) and the European Region of the IOI jointly organize a seminar on “The Right to Gender Identity and Affective-Sexual Diversity. Challenges for Equality” in order to foster reflection and dialogue about the human rights to gender identity and sexual orientation, both from a legal perspective and from a public policy perspective.

The seminar is open to all Ombudspersons in Europe and will be held in Bilbao (Basque Country / Spain) on 20 and 21 May 2013. The seminar will be held in English and Spanish with simultaneous interpretation. Registration should be made by Email and the office of the Ombudsman of the Basque Country would like to remind you to make your hotel reservations until 22 April 2013 to benefit from the special rates offered to attendees.
