Two complainants approached the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh with their concern that the Health Department Government of Sindh had discontinued the polio vaccination of children under the Immunization Programme in their village in Dadu District. They stated that during the last five years not a single child has been vaccinated against polio, despite repeated requests from the village community. As a result, the lives of children were at stake.
Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik, Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, took serious note of the matter and issued directives to the Health Department for immediately resuming the vaccination of children under the Immunization Programme, which were complied with by the Health Department. He also directed the local police to provide fool proof security to the polio staff.
The complainants have expressed their thanks and appreciation for the prompt action taken by the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh.
