Detention monitoring applying the UN Nelson Mandela Rules

The summer school will equip members and staff of National Preventive Mechanisms with the knowledge to use and apply the revised Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners (Nelson Mandela Rules).

The modules will be facilitated by international and national experts. A participatory approach will enable participants to apply the Nelson Mandela Rules to their monitoring work, using case studies and interactive workshops.
The Summer School is organized by Penal Reform International and the Human Rights International and the Human Rights Implementation Centre University of Bristol in partnership with Association for the Prevention of torture. It is sponsored by the Danish Government.
