The Chief Ombudsman of Thailand, Mr. Somsak Suwansujarit, along with the Thai Ombudsmen, hosted the first occasion of the Southeast Asian Ombudsman Forum Meeting (SEAOF Meeting) from 31st October – 2nd November 2022 at the Centara Grand Hotel Central Plaza Ladprao in Bangkok. The meeting brought together representatives of the SEAOF founding members; Mr. Mokhammad Najih, Chairman of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia and Mr. Asryman Rafanan, Assistant Ombudsman for the Office of Legal Affairs of the Office of the Ombudsman of the Republic of the Philippines.
The meeting focused on the formal endorsement of the SEAOF documentations, including Terms of reference (TOR), Guidelines on Admission of New Members and discussions about SEAOF activities in the following years which would be navigated by the activity framework, namely Vision Statement 2023 – 2024. Purposefully, the results expected from this meeting aimed to enhance the capacity of SEAOF members with the jurisdiction of their institutions and the proposed cooperative activities, including development of coordinated complaint-handling mechanism, capacity building workshops, researches and studies and expanding of the membership.
