ANGOLA | The Ombudsman of the Republic of Angola celebrates for the first time the International Day of the Ombudsman

The event was held on October 10th and included an opening speech by the Angolan Ombudsman, the representative of the National Assembly, the interim UN representative in Angola, the PNUD representative in Angola, followed by presentations of virtual speeches by Her Excellency the President of the International Ombudsman Institute, Dra. Nashieli Ramírez Hernández, the Executive Director of the International Ombudsman Association, Dra. Ellen Miller, the Secretary of the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA), Dra Caroline Sokoni, and other representatives of Angolan state bodies.

To celebrate this anniversary, the Ombudsman of the Region of Lazio and Coordinator of the Italian Ombudsman, and Director of the European Region of the International Ombudsman Institute, Dr. Marino Fardelli, was present to give a lecture on “The Role of the Ombudsman in the International Context. Comparative Experiences”.

We believe that this moment of celebration of the Angolan Ombudsman took place in a climate of harmony and provided an opportunity for participants to share knowledge and experiences around the figure of the Ombudsman, as expressed in the motto, “The Ombudsman, Here to Listen”.
