CANADA | training course on effective investigations

The Forum of Canadian Ombudsman holds a new training course on “Skills for Effective Investigations”, which takes place from March 26 to 27 2013 in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The two-day course covers the investigation process from the initial assessment of a case to gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, analyzing results, writing your report and crafting recommendations. With a focus on individual issues and general investigations, the course is designed for people working in oversight offices and anyone involved in the investigation of complaints.

Participants will build practical skills, gain an understanding of investigations from the perspectives of ombudsman’s offices, auditors and other government agencies and learn about the various types of investigations and what situations they are appropriate for.

Experienced trainers, interactive exercises, solid information and lots of opportunities for questions and discussion make this course well worth attending. The course will also be useful to people who supervise investigations or make decisions based on them.

If you have any further question regarding the training event or on how to register, please call Suzanne Belson at +1 514 489-4482 or e-mail conference@ombudsmanforum.ca.

The course program and registration forms are available here.
