As part of her mandate to promote the rights of persons with disabilities at regional and global levels, Maria Soledad Cisternas Reyes, Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations on Disability and Accessibility, developed a campaign titled “Good treatment for girls, boys and adolescents with disabilities in the world".

The campaign has been presented at UNESCAP for the Asia Pacific Region, UNECA, for the African Region, ECLAC for the Latin American Region, UNESCWA for the Middle East Region, also before the Human Rights Council, at the Disability Summit of Argentina, before the 12th Conference of States Parties to the CRPD and before the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States OAS.

The main element of this campaign is a decalogue called "10 principles for my protection, well-being and development as a girl, boy or adolescent with disabilities". The products of the campaign are: A booklet with the 10 Principles and their illustrations, a poster and a video.

Special Envoy Cisternas Reyes asks NHRIs to promote this material at all levels of education, medical care centers and hospitals, where justice is administered. The objective is to contribute to the awareness of the good treatment of girls, boys and adolescents with disabilities, eradicating all forms of abuse and mistreatment that they often experience.
