On 14 December 2018 IOI Secretary Günther Kräuter welcomed Ombudsman of the Vorarlberg region, Mr Florian Bachmayr-Heyda, as new Voting member of the IOI.
This institution was a member of the IOI for 26 years but had to cancel its membership for financial reasons in 2013. Following the IOI’s fee structure reform, that allows smaller institutions pay a reduced fee while at the same time having access to all the member benefits (e.g. trainings, regional subsidies…), the Regional Ombudsman of Vorarlberg reapplied for membership.
As the mandate, role, and powers of the institution have not changed since 2013 and fast-track readmission procedures have been applied in similar cases in the past, the members of the IOI Board decided that the Regional Ombudsman of Vorarlberg fulfilled all the necessary requirements according to the IOI By-Laws and granted Voting membership. At a meeting in Vienna, IOI Secretary General Günther Kräuter emphasized the good collaboration between the two institutions and Florian Bachmayr-Heyda stated that it was “a good feeling, being part of the IOI family again“.
