BackThe Honourable Wafaqi Mohtasib briefed the Honourable President on the enhancing outreach programme and quasi-judicial role in providing inexpensive justice to the aggrieved people on the maladministration against federal government agencies, especially poor citizens who cannot afford rather expensive, lengthy and cumbersome judicial process in the courts of law.
He also apprised the Honourable President on the new initiatives using information technology, for strengthening the complaint handling and disposal mechanism.Honourable President Dr. Arif Alvi while appreciating the performance of the Wafaqi Mohtasib expressed his complete confidence on the institution and urged him to provide expeditious and inexpensive speedy justice by using modern technologies to keep the people at their doorsteps. In this regard, he appreciated plan to the launch mobile app of the Wafaqi Mohtasib for the complainants and revamping its website to make it more user-friendly. He also reiterated his desire for gradual capacity-building/skills up-gradation, procedural improvements and organizational strengthening for efficient working and complaints resolution at grassroots level.
The President stressed that seminars should be regularly held to create awareness about the role of Wafaqi Mohtasib among the masses. Furthermore, he also urged the Wafaqi Mohtasib to expand its public outreach by utilizing various print, electronic and social media. He especially emphasized the need for broadcasting regular programs on PTV for a country-wide dissemination of information. The President expressed his full support to Wafaqi Mohtasib in discharge of its duties and responsibilities.
The President said that the present Government was working towards resolution of the problems of general public at the institutional level, therefore, reports prepared by the Wafaqi Mohtasib on various systemic issues would be helpful to streamline the government agencies, especially relating to reforms in jails, especially women and children; welfare of overseas Pakistanis; child abuse; Pension reforms; education and medical sector reforms should provide substance for formulation of Government policies on relevant subjects.
The Honourable President assured his full commitment and support to the Honourable Wafaqi Mohtasib in discharge of his functions and constitutional role towards providing maximum relief to the aggrieved complainants. He underscored the need by the federal government agencies to effectively implement all the decisions in the Findings issued by the Wafaqi Mohtasib in various complaints of maladministration against them.
