Scottish Ombudsman publishes Annual Report 2012/2013
On 26 July 2013, the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) laid its 2012/2013 public report before the Scottish Parliament. Despite increasing numbers of complaints and significant cuts in resourcing, the office’s productivity also rose and the SPSO dealt with 9% more complaints than in the previous year.

Paul Dubé Ombudsman of Ontario as of 1 April 2016
Mr. J. Paul Dubé of Ottawa has been appointed as Ontario’s seventh Ombudsman for a five-year term, to begin April 1, 2016. His appointment by an all-party committee of the Legislative Assembly was announced yesterday and approved by unanimous vote in the Legislature.

Inspector-General of Taxation review into ATO’s Fraud Control Management
The Inspector-General of Taxation (IGT), Mr Ali Noroozi, has accepted the Senate Economics References Committee’s (the Committee) request to examine how the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) addresses the risk of fraud and associated issues. The Committee’s request follows recent events including those relating to Operation Elbrus and allegations of tax fraud that may be linked to abuse of position by a public official. The IGT today announced terms of reference for this review.

Chief Ombudsman of Turkey re-elected to the post
Mr. Şeref Malkoç has been re-elected as Chief Ombudsman of Turkey by the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on 11 November 2020. Mr Malkoç, a 60-year-old prominent lawyer and former member of the Parliament, was sworn in on the 1 December 2020 at the Parliament. Performing this duty since 05 December 2016, Mr. Malkoç’s new mandate will be for another four years until 2024.

The Office of The Ombudsman of Hong Kong presented its Annual Report 2022-23
The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, presented the 2022-23 Annual Report of the Office of The Ombudsman to the public on 12 July 2023. The Office received 766 pandemic-related complaints in the year of 2022-23, accounting for about 14% of the total number of complaints, a hike from 206 last year.
