During their mid-term Board Meeting in Vienna in April 2013 the Board voted for Thailand to host the next IOI World Conference in 2016. It will be the first time that a World Conference will take place in the Asian region.
In January 2013 the Board had called for a tender regarding the next World Conference. The Gambia, Latvia, Tanzania and Thailand applied and presented their interesting concepts during the Board Meeting in Vienna. In a secret ballot the Board Members decided in favour of Thailand.
Since the establishment of the IOI in 1978 ten World Conferences were held, the most recent one in Wellington (New Zealand) in November 2012.
