IOI | 20th Anniversary of the Greek Ombudsman

The Greek Ombudsman, Andreas Pottakis hosted a reception and conference in Athens from 20 - 22 February 2019 on the occassion of the 20th Anniversary of the Greek Ombudsman institution. 

As part of the anniversary celebration, an International Conference was held in the Hellenic Parliament on the topic  "State and Society - Challenges to Rights and Freedoms". 

During these two days, representatives of many Ombudsman Institutions and other international organisations, such as the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) or the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) attended this conference to discuss challenges to social cohesion, to the rights of migrants, to the rights and freedoms in the digital era and challenges faced by Ombudsman Institutions.

The President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), Peter Tyndall, as well as the IOI General Secretary, Günther Kräuter and the IOI Regional President of Europe, Rafael Ribó attended this event and commended the Greek Ombudsman and his staff for the important work they are doing.
