KOREA | ACRC publishes Annual Report 2012

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission of Korea (ACRC) is aiming at enhancing the credibility of the public administration and protecting the rights of the people, by monitoring and correcting illegal and unfair administrative measures and corruption in the public sector from the perspective of the citizens.

In the reporting period, the ACRC addressed about 30,000 administrative appeals and civil petitions against government agencies and 2,500 reports on corruption.

For foreigners who have difficulties in filing complaints due to the language barrier, the ACRC launched the complaint filing service in foreign language in 2008. Currently, this service is provided in 11 languages.

The ACRC is also increasing its efforts to enhance the integrity of public officials and social trust. To this end, the ACRC has strived for the enactment and enforcement of the Act on the Protection of Public Interest Whistleblowers, the reinforcement of anti-corruption education based on life-cycle by opening the Anti-Corruption Training Institute, and the legislation of the Bill on the Prevention of Illegal Solicitations and Conflict of Interest.

This annual report for 2012 contains all the efforts undertaken by the ACRC to fight corruption and protect the rights of the people over the last year. The English version of the ACRC’s Annual Report 2012 is available here.
