The Provincial Ombudsman Sindh was approached by a complainant who stated that the Agriculture Department had deducted an amount of Rs.72,932/- on account of T.A./D.A from the pensions dues of her deceased husband. Her request for release of the deducted amount was turned down by the department with the explanation that the deductions were made due to the fact that the tour programme undertaken by her husband was not approved by the competent authority and the amount in-question was wrongly drawn by the deceased government servant.
Provincial Ombudsman Sindh took prompt action to her rescue. During investigation, it was revealed that the deduction of the amount by the Agency violated government rules and deliberately deprived the deceased government servant’s family of their legitimate right. The Provincial Ombudsman Sindh directed the Director General, Agriculture Extension, Hyderabad to immediately refund the deducted amount to the wife of the deceased government servant.
