From 12 to 14 March 2014, the International Coordination Committee (ICC) of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights is holding its 27th Annual Meeting in Geneva, Switzerland. In the course of the meeting, IOI member institutions in Armenia, Croatia, Guatemala and Haiti have been accredited as being in full compliance with the Paris Principles (A status) by ICC Chairman Lawrence Mushwana, UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Flavia Pansieri and the Director of the Democratic Governance group at UNDP, Patrick Keuleers.
The IOI warmly congratulates the Human Rights Defender in Armenia, the Croatian People’s Ombudsman, the Office of the Procurator for Human Rights in Guatemala and the Office for the Protection of Citizens in Haiti on their successful (re)accreditation!
The ICC is a membership-based association of independent national human rights institutions (NHRIs) from across the world. Established in 1993, the ICC aims at promoting the establishment and strengthening of NHRIs and their role nationally and at an international level. It provides leadership in the promotion and protection of human rights by coordinating NHRI activities, offering capacity building and by fostering exchange of information and best practice through its annual meetings and conferences. The ICC also undertakes accreditation of human rights institutions in line with the Paris Principles.
