Canada | Alberta Ombudsman Button leaves I.O.I. Board

Alberta Ombudsman Gord Button has decided to resign from his position as a Director representing the North American Region on the Board of Directors of the I.O.I. 

In the previous membership year Gord Button acted as Treasurer of the I.O.I. and significantly contributed to the success of the Institute. The I.O.I. Board thanks him for his valuable services and commitment to the Institute.

G. B. (Gord) Button was appointed on September 15, 2003 as the seventh Ombudsman for the Province of Alberta. Mr. Button joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1971 and served in a variety of operational and administrative roles throughout Alberta. In November of 2001, Mr. Button was transferred back to Alberta where he held the position of Officer in Charge of Criminal Operations for Alberta until his retirement in 2003.

He has also contributed his time and energies to many community activities and volunteer efforts. As a result of his significant contribution to Canada, his communities and fellow Canadians, Mr. Button was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2003.
