BackThe I.O.I. has been shocked and extremely saddened to learn of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck parts of Japan. All members of the International Ombudsman Institute would like to offer sincere condolences to those who are suffering in the wake of this catastrophe and particularly those who have lost loved ones.
The enormity of the disaster and the images of destruction that have followed are beyond imagination and the international ombudsman family wishes to express its solidarity with the Japanese people who are faced by what the Prime Minister rightly called the greatest hardship since World War II.
During these times of national crisis special thoughts go to the staff members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Japanese I.O.I. member institution.
