Turkey | Annual Report 2019 of the Ombudsman institution now available

The Office of the Ombudsman of Turkey is pleased to share with you the abridged English version of the 2019 Annual Report of the Ombudsman institution.

The year 2019 was marked by significant number of complaint applications which reached 20.968 in 2019. The total number of complaint applications since the establishment of the Institution is 80.535. The number of decisions issued in 2019 is 21.170. In addition, 107.899 people were interviewed via e-mail, telephone or face to face.

Attaching great importance to resolving complaints through amicable settlement in a short period of time, we resolved 2.707 complaints through amicable settlement in 2019. The compliance rate of the administrations with our recommendations was 20% in 2013, whereas it increased to 65% in 2017, 70% in 2018 and 75% in 2019.
