CANADA | BC Ombudsperson publishes annual report

British Columbia Ombudsperson Kim Carter, who was reappointed for an unprecedented second term by the Legislative Assembly on 9 May 2012, released her 2011/12 Annual Report.

Over 8,000 inquiries and complaints were received and the most significant public authorities dealt with were the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Children and Family Development, ICBC and the Workers’ Compensation Board.

The annual report 2011/12 contains updates on action by government on previous reports, such as “Fit to drink: challenges in providing safe drinking water in BC” as well as “Last resort: improving fairness and accountability in BC’s income assistance program”.

The Annual Report 2011/12 is now available on the Website of the BC Ombudsperson as on the Website of the IOI.
