BackTo execute the functions of NPM, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova and the members of NPM group regularly conduct short-term and long-term visits to temporary detention places, psychiatric hospitals, penitentiary facilities, places of deprivation of liberty and places of restriction of liberty.
Recently staff members of NPM conducted visit to temporary detention place of Absheron District Police Station
Visiting team was familiarized with the documents affirming the legality of detention and investigated prison condition in the facility and no violation was found.
Ten detainees were interviewed; their rights were explained to them. They didn’t complain of treatment and detention conditions.
It should be mentioned that new buildings of Absheron District Police Station and temporary detention place meet standards.
