IOI | Board of Directors holds annual meeting 2014 in Vienna

The Austrian Ombudsman Board hosted this year’s meeting of the IOI Board of Directors, which took place in Vienna, Austria from 27 to 29 October 2014. In total 18 of the 21 Directors of the Board came to Vienna to discuss projects and priorities for the upcoming membership year.

The IOI Board of Directors approved Voting membership for 12 Ombudsman institutions from Africa, Europe and Latin America; all of which will be presented in more details in the IOI’s newsletter of the following weeks. The Board also awarded IOI Honorary Life Membership to Dame Beverley A. Wakem (former President of the IOI), Dr. Peter Kostelka (former Secretary General of the IOI), Mr Alan Lai (former Treasurer of the IOI), Mr Bruce Barbour (former Regional Vice-President of the IOI’s Australasia & Pacific Region) and Mr Arne Fliflet (former Member of the IOI Board of Directors) for their exceptional contributions and outstanding services to the IOI in the past.

Another focus of this year’s Board meeting were training initiatives for the upcoming membership year as well as the re-introduction of the IOI’s regional subsidies programme. More details on the decisions taken by the Board in this regard will be made available to our members in due course.
