On the final day of an official visit to Pakistan, Chief of Staff to the office of the President and Principal Assistant Ombudsman, Rebecca Poole, was given the great honour of inaugurating the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Ladies Room and Day Care Centre.
In a ceremony that involved a ribbon-cutting and memorial plaque, it was a moving way to finish their time in the Sindh Province. The Room is a dedicated space for the exclusive use of women. The space provides a Common Room, Prayer Room, bathroom and place for women to bring children to support them to work. “This was a very special honour for me, and I am humbled to have been a part of this historic moment for the office of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh and for the wonderful women of the Sindh Province” said Chief of Staff Poole.
“I am deeply grateful to the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Ombudsman Ajaz Ali Khan, the Ombudsman’s Head of Secretariat, Mr Ali Hussain Malik (PAS) and Consultant to the office of the Ombudsman, Ms Rehana G. Ali Memon, for this incredibly important initiative. Alongside of Ombudsman Khan’s Research Studies into increasing the participation rates of girls in the education system and the effect on women and children of malnutrition in the Tharparkar region, he and his team are providing genuine leadership on advancing women’s interests, and fundamental human rights.” said President Field.
