The Commission has reached out to the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs in an effort to advance administrative justice in the public sector. The interaction coincides with the induction retreat for members of the newly constituted Committee which is taking place between 26th to 28th January, 2018, in Mombasa.
The Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs is a select committee mandated by the House Standing Orders to investigate, inquire into and report on all matters relating to the constitutional affairs, administration of law and justice, including the Judiciary, constitutional commissions, among others.
The interaction during the retreat workshop revolves around ways of deepening cooperation between the Committee and the Commission on areas of mutual interest including how to collaborate on execution of their respective work such as support by the Committee on resource allocation, accountability in regard to reports submitted to it, and necessary legislation relating to administrative justice passed in Parliament. Nine other entities are taking part in the retreat to interact with the Committee.
