The Chief Ombudsman has signed a three-year Bilateral Cooperation and Support Arrangement with the Vanuatu Ombudsman.
The arrangement will see the two offices work together on projects and programmes that will promote transparency and fairness and strengthen their relationship.
While in Vanuatu the Ombudsman also met with the Malvatumauri Council of Chiefs and other officials and gave a speech to students at the National University of Vanuatu on the importance of the Ombudsman’s work.
Peter Boshier says he was honoured to sign the Arrangement of Cooperation and Support with Vanuatu.
“The signing of this document symbolises our commitment to each other and enables us to build upon the special bond that already exists between us. Vanuatu has always been very much a part of the international Ombudsman community and I look forward to working even more closely with the Vanuatu Ombudsman in the future.”
New Zealand has, in the past, provided training to Vanuatu investigators on various topics including prison investigations and inspections.
