CY Members Li-chiung SU and Jung-chang WANG conducted an annual local circuit supervision of Taichung City Government on 24 November 2023. In addition to receiving complaints from the public, they also expressed a particular interest in the investment status of the Taichung Popular Audiovisual Center and the maintenance of the facilities at Taichung Central Park.
Members Su and Wang complimented Taichung City Government for its work on several groundbreaking projects, such as replacing old electric cables for low-income families and investing in public transportation services in rural areas. They also raised some issues regarding balancing population development; preventing those who have passed fire safety inspections from making changes afterward; whether public transportation, sports, and cultural facilities are friendly to people with disabilities; and differences in award bonuses for Paralympians.
The Members also received complaints from the public through the local inspection. Cases received this time covered areas including overtime pay for labor; after-school hourly pay for teachers; night market noise and fire safety; and sexual harassment and violence on campuses. Municipal government authorities were asked for explanations on site and requested to provide suitable assistance in a timely manner.
In addition, the Members showed a particular interest in Taichung Popular Audiovisual Center, an important hub for the promotion of popular audiovisual culture, and Taichung Central Park, a valued recreational location for local residents. Both are important cultural venues and public facilities for Taichung City, and the Members visited both to gain a deeper understating of their operations and status.
