PAKISTAN | Directives of Ombudsman Sindh to Health Department to counter quackery

The Provincial Ombudsman initiated action upon the complaint of a representative of the Pakistan Human Rights Development Organization. A man was indulging in the practice of quackery and running his private clinic at Chini, Taluka Johi, District Dadu, without valid qualification at the risk of health and life of the people of the area. Enquiry ordered by the Ombudsman Sindh, confirmed the contention of the complainant.

Being the custodian of public interests, Ombudsman Sindh Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik issued directives to Health Department, Government of Sindh to take immediate action against quackery and unauthorized medical practice in general and in this case in particular. In compliance, the Health Department initiated large scale action against the practice of quackery. Subsequently the complainant acknowledged that quack had stopped his practice and also expressed his gratitude to the institution of Ombudsman for safeguarding life of citizens.
