Albania | Erinda Ballanca takes office as new People's Advocate

Following her election by the People’s Assembly of Albania, Mrs. Erinda Ballanca took oath before the Albanian Parliament and was introduced to the PA staff by her predecessor, Mr. Totozani, on Monday, 19 June 2017. 

In her brief introductory speech, Mrs. Erinda Ballanca pointed out that she was honored and privileged to serve as the People’s Advocate and pledged to carry ahead the work of her predecessors: “They laid the foundations of the institution, and the whole purpose is to continue to build on the contributions made by former colleagues,” she said.

Mrs. Ballanca graduated from the Law Faculty of the University of Tirana in 1996 with a Golden Medal. She has a successful twenty-year experience as a lawyer, during which she held leading positions with the Tirana Bar Association, and the National Assembly of the Bar Association of Albania. Her law profile has been placed in the top ten in the classification of the Chambers and Partners, Legal 5000 and IFLR 1000.

In addition, Mrs. Ballanca has been a lecturer of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Tirana, and has contributed to the drafting of key Albanian legislation, such as the Constitution of the Republic of Albania, and a number of other important pieces of legislation.
