UK | Former Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman honoured by King

Former Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman Michael King has been awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in His Majesty the King’s Birthday Honours, announced 19 June 2023.

Mr King served as the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman from 2017 to March 2023, having previously been the organisation’s Chief Executive and serving more than 30 years in the public sector including as a trading standards officer.

His Majesty the King’s Honours recognise the valuable service and contribution of people to charity and their industry or profession.

Paul Najsarek, the current interim Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman, said:

“Mick is well known and highly respected in the local government and social care sectors, and his contribution has been significant."

“His commitment to improving public services, and seeking redress for people when things have gone wrong, is unparalleled and his ‘common sense’ approach was appreciated by all of those who worked with him."

“I heartily congratulate Mick on this richly deserved honour.”
