Former PNG Ombudsman Peter Masi welcomed a ruling by the Supreme Court of Papua New Guinea against a proposed law on an Independent Commission of Corruption for the country.
According to former Ombudsman Masi, the proposed law was designed to water down the powers of the Ombudsman to fight corruption. He therefore welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling as an important signal not only for Papua New Guinea but the wider Pacific region as well.
