AUSTRIA | Human Rights Commissioner of the Council of Europe visits Ombudsman Board

On 8 July 2011, the Members of the Austrian Ombudsman Board met with the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Thomas Hammarberg.

The informal exchange of views focused on the monitoring and investigative activities of the AOB in the fields of asylum and non-discrimination. Furthermore, the Chair of the AOB, Dr. Gertrude Brinek, Ombudsman Dr. Peter Kostelka and Ombudswoman Mag. Terezija Stoisits informed about the forthcoming OPCAT implementation in Austria and the AOB's role in this process. Also on the agenda of the meeting was a discussion about current priorities of the Council of Europe.
