ITALY | International seminar adopts Aosta Declaration

The IOI international seminar on networking hosted by the Ombudsman of the Valle d'Aosta, Mr Enrico Formento Dojot, adopted the Declaration of Aosta calling for the creation of a National Ombudsman in Italy.

While there are strong Ombudsman offices in most Italian regions, there is still no opportunity for users of public services provided by the central administration in Italy to bring their complaints to an Ombudsman with the appropriate jurisdiction and powers.

The seminar considered all of the benefits of networking including sharing best practice, supporting colleagues under threat and promoting the development and extension of the Ombudsman concept.

The speakers included IOI President Peter Tyndall, IOI Europe President Rafael Ribó and European Board members Nick Bennett and Andreas Pottakis.
