During the IOI Board Meeting 2018 the Ombudsman of the Province of Santa Fe, Dr. Raúl Lamberto, had the honour to present the publication "Social Policies and Human Rights at the local level", product of the joint work between the Office of the Ombudsman of the province of Santa Fe and the National University of Rosario.
This work evaluates the state of progress of these policies during the year 2017 in the city of Rosario, in compliance with the commitment assumed by the Ombudsmen of Latin America during the Habitat III summit, held in 2016 in Quito, Ecuador, regarding the follow-up of social policies from a Human Rights perspective, according to the postulates of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (UN).
This publication adopted the Human Rights Approach, based on the principle, rules and standards of the International Human Rights System. In particular, the normative framework of the inter-American system was adopted: the provisions that have governed since 2011 the measurement of economic, social and cultural rights contemplated in the Protocol of San Salvador, and the provisions of the Convention of Belem do Pará, which regulate since 2013 measuring the right to a life free of violence.
The publication is now also available in English (see further down below) with the aim of making it useful and accessible for all the Ombudsman's offices, in its commitment to follow-up and evaluation of social policies within the framework of the UN 2030 Agenda.
