IOI President Chris Field PSM was deeply honoured this week to provide an opening speech to an international conference on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the Ombudsman of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Conference was attended by a number of Ambassadors, senior dignitaries from the Kingdom of Bahrain and Ombudsman and human rights commissioners.

Opening speeches were also provided by the Minister for Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, His Excellency Mr. Nawaf Bin Mohammed Al Maawda (and inaugural Ombudsman), as well as Mr. Şeref Malkoç, Chief Ombudsman of Turkey and President of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association.

“The Conference represented a fitting opportunity to pay tribute to the achievements of my colleague and friend, Ms. Ghada Hameed Habeeb, Ombudsman of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Ombudsman of the Kingdom of Bahrain was the first of its kind in the region and was part of a package of legislative, executive and administrative measures taken by the Kingdom within its democratic and developmental process, and human rights initiatives” said President Field.
