On his second day in the Kingdom of Bahrain, IOI President Chris Field PSM undertook an official visit to the Bahrain Open Prison Complex. The Open Prison Complex comprises a large number of very modern townhouses, with a range of facilities, which prepare detainees for re-entry into the community with a range of skills. A very high level of freedom and rights is accorded to the detainees.
“The prison is the most progressive and positive of its kind that I have seen in the world. It is a great credit to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry of the Interior that this prison has been established. The staff were justifiably proud of their work, which is already seeing exceptionally high rates of success for detainees re-entering into the community.” said President Field.
Later in the day, President Field had the privilege of visiting the stunning Souq Al Baraha, a modern market but designed entirely to represent the traditional Souqs of Bahrain. It was a particular joy for President Field to not just have an opportunity to extensively discuss Bahraini culture, but also to enjoy a wide range of traditional Bahraini food, including fried chicken livers; Bahraini Halwa; Luqaimat; Kabab; and Samboosa.
