IOI President Chris Field PSM undertook an official visit to Slovenia following the very gracious invitation of his outstanding colleague, Human Rights Ombudsman, Peter Svetina. Alongside bilateral exchanges and a number of meetings with the most senior members of Government, President Field was given the great honour of visiting many of the beautiful regions of Slovenia.
One such place is Postojna Cave, where President Field was privileged to be given a personalised welcome and a private guided tour. The cave is breathtakingly spectacular. At the end of the tour, President Field was asked to sign the “Golden Book” of visiting dignitaries, first signed by Hasburg Emperor Franz Joseph. President Field also visited a place of fairy tale beauty, Lake Bled. President Field is very grateful to the ex-Mayor for providing him a private guided tour. Another glory of Slovenia, Lake Bled is a place that is beautiful in photos and magical in person. President Field and Ombudsman Svetina were also shown, and operated, a wonderful replica Gutenberg press.
As a final visit in Slovenia, President Field travelled to Piran, a town on the Adriatic Sea, in the southwest of Slovenia, from which you can see Italy and Croatia. A town of great historic importance due to salt production and of beautiful Venetian architecture, it is yet another wonder of Slovenia.
“Slovenia is a country of verdant forests, places of mesmerising beauty and of people of great intellect, warmth and generosity. If any person has the opportunity to visit Europe, they should immediately include Slovenia in their itinerary” said President Field.
