SPAIN | Latest development regarding two regional Ombudsman institutions

The IOI General Secretariat would like to inform you about the latest developments regarding two regional member institutions from Spain; namely the Ombudsman of Asturias (Procuradora General de Asturias) and the Ombudsman of La Rioja (Defensoría del Pueblo Riojano).

On 1 July 2013 an announcement was published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (Boletín Oficial del Principado de Asturias) regarding the abolishment of the Regional Ombudsman of Asturias.

On 6 November 2011, an announcement was published in the Spanish Official State Bulletin (Boletín Oficial del Estado) regarding the suspension of the Regional Ombudsman of La Rioja due to budget cuts.
