POLAND | Monitoring of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

One of the priorities of the Human Rights Defender is to monitor the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. As a consequence, the ombudsman’s office has asked every county and district in Poland to fill out a survey, which aims at collecting respective data on how local government implements the adherence to the convention. The collected material will be used in the Human Rights Defender’s activity in order to monitor the situation of persons with disabilities living in Poland. The study includes the following areas:

1. General: Referring primarily to local programs/strategies aimed at persons with disabilities and their accessibility to information as well as services provided by the local government;

2. Education: Referring especially to the realization of universal access to public education institutions of diasbaled youth;

3. Labor market: With reference to hiring people with disabilities in the public sector and adjusting labor services of the District Employment Offices, which provide services to persons with disabilities;

4. Accessibility: To public spaces, services and information in the units managed by local government.
