The Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) laid four investigation reports before the Scottish Parliament, about four different health boards. These reports included topics such as:

  • Maternity care; communication; record-keeping
  • Policy/administration; delay in treatment; communication
  • Patient dignity; delay in treatment; record-keeping; hospital admission
  • Clinical treatment; delay in diagnosis; communication; record-keeping

The SPSO News also report on the case numbers of the past month: In May 2013, the SPSO received 422 complaints. In addition to the seven reports the SPSO laid before Parliament, it determined 392 complaints. Of these, the SPSO resolved 99 in its early resolution team and 42 by detailed consideration. In total, the SPSO made 78 recommendations in decision letters.
