PAPUA NEW GUINEA | New Chief Ombudsman appointed

The Ombudsman Appointments Committee (Chaired by the PM) appointed Mr Rigo Lua as the new Chief Ombudsman of the Ombudsman Commission of Papua New Guinea on 20 June 2013.

Mr Lua is a Lawyer by profession and was the former Chairman of the Public Services Commission. He takes over the office from Phoebe Sangetari, who has been acting Chief Ombudsman after the office became vacant following the passing of former Chief Ombudsman Chronox Manek  in 2011.

Mr Lua will commence his office after having attended to the formalities of being sworn in. He will be the 6th Papua New Guinean appointed to this post.
