BackA week after assuming office at the Commission, three new Commissioners have reiterated their resolve to live up to the expectations of the Kenyan public and serve them with utmost dedication and humility.
The commissioners, led by the Chairperson, Hon. Florence Kajuju, challenged members of staff to approach their responsibilities and duties with professionalism and patriotism to entrench a culture of servanthood in the public service.
The commissioners, who included the Vice Chairperson, Mr. Washington Sati, and Commissioner Lucy Ndung’u, addressed their first staff meeting at the Commission’s headquarters in Nairobi on Thursday, August 16, 2018.
Hon. Kajuju reiterated her call for increased public outreach and education throughout the country to sensitise members of the public on the mandate of the Commission and to improve public service delivery.
Her sentiments were echoed by Commissioner Sati who said the commissioners expected to get support from staff to execute their mandate. He added that his desire to join the Commission had been inspired by the many success stories it had registered over the past few years.
On her part, Commissioner Ndung’u expressed her commitment to serve the Commission and the people of Kenya and challenged staff members to set the best possible example of an efficient and effective public service.
Mrs. Ndung’u is also the Commission’s designated Access to Information Commissioner and will lead efforts to enforce the implementation of the Access to Information Act, 2016.
