AUSTRALIA | New Ombudsman of Tasmania

According to a Tasmanian Government press release, Mr Leon Atkinson-MacEwen was appointed as Ombudsman and Health Complaints Commissioner of Tasmania and will take up his new position on 26 March 2012.

Mr Atkinson-MacEwen, who was selected from a field of applicants, can draw on a vast experience in public administration due to his work within the public sector.

In a first reaction Mr Atkinson-MacEwen thanked the Deputy Ombudsman, Mr Richard Connock for his work. Mr Connock was appointed Acting Ombudsman in February this year when former Ombudsman Simon Allston retired at the end of January 2012.
