The Acting Ombudsman has today tabled his Annual Report for 2014-2015. The report outlines the work of the Office for the year, including its complaint handling and systemic work. This year, the Ombudsman received 40,306 complaints and notifications. The Office further continued to develop and refine its approach to identifying and responding to systemic issues identified across its jurisdiction.
The annual report of the New South Wales Ombudsman is a significant way of communicating what the office has done in the last twelve months and is also an opportunity to share information and increase public understanding about the work of the NSW Ombudsman.
This year, the Ombudsman received 40,306 complaints and notifications. This includes 11,109 formal matters and 29,197 informal matters. It also continued to develop and refine its approach to identifying and responding to systemic issues identified across its jurisdiction.
This was the first year of the Deputy Ombudsman (Aboriginal Programs) performing a monitoring and assessment role, starting with OCHRE – the NSW Government’s plan for Aboriginal affairs. This is the first public report on these observations to date.
This year marks the office’s 40th anniversary. “This office has a long, proud history” said Professor McMillan “and I am sure it will continue to evolve and change in the future”. Please visit the website of the Ombudsman New South Wales to read the full press release and to access the report.
