IOI | Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand visits IOI General Secretariat

Ombudsman Prof Siracha Charoenpanij and a delegation of the Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand visited the IOI General Secretariat on 12 October 2012.

IOI Secretary General Dr Peter Kostelka welcomed the representatives of the Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand in the IOI General Secretariat at the premises of the Austrian Ombudsman Board. The meeting was a good opportunity to discuss the current developments in the IOI such as the By-laws reform and the upcoming World Conference in Wellington, New Zealand, and explore further options for cooperation between the Thai member and the IOI.

The Constitution of Thailand which was announced in 2007 entrusts the Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand not only with the traditional functions of an Ombudsman such as investigating complaints about public authorities but conferred the duty to oversee the ethical practice of politicians or state officials as well as to establish a Code of Ethics to be followed by all agencies upon the Office of the Ombudsman.
