PAPUA NEW GUINEA | Ombudsman Chronox Manek passed away

It is with great sadness that the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) has learned of the passing away of Papua New Guinea Chief Ombudsman Chronox Manek in the early hours of 1 October 2012.

"Chronox Manek was an outstanding Ombudsman, passionately dedicated to his work and fully committed to the principles of a fair and transparent administration even in the most difficult times. He devoted himself to the ombudsman concept and has always been a good supporter of the IOI. In his function as Regional Vice-President of the Australasia and Pacific Region of the IOI, he contributed thoughtfully to the IOI’s deliberations", states IOI Secretary General Peter Kostelka.

Within the IOI Board of Directors Mr Manek was respected for his open and friendly nature, his professional presence and advice as well as his wit and wisdom. His passing away is a great loss for the IOI as well as the international ombudsman community.
