THE GAMBIA | Ombudsman Community mourns passing of former Ombudsman Fatou Nije Jallow

It is with deep sorrow that we inform the international Ombudsman community of the passing of Ms Fatou Nije Jallow, former Ombudsman of the Gambia. The sad event occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 29 July 2021.

Ms Fatou Nije Jallow served as Deputy Ombudsman from 2012 to 2014 and as Ombudsman from 2014 to 2019. During her tenure she had contributed significantly to the progress of the Office of the Ombudsman and maintained its membership and active participation in regional and international associations such as the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association (OICOA) and the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI).

Ms Fatou Nije Jallow will be dearly missed by the international Ombudsman community. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to her family and friends and all the colleagues who worked with her at the Office of the Ombudsman of the Gambia.
