JORDAN | Ombudsman enhances cooperation with Public Administration Bodies

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a workshop organized last February 18th, 2013, by the Ombudsman Bureau in cooperation with the World Bank on “Enhancing the Cooperation Framework and Coordination with the Public Administration,” the H.E. Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour stressed that the Bureau, as a body monitoring the performance of public agencies, plays an important role in entrenching the values of integrity, transparency, justice and equality.

The Prime Minister also added that the performance of government officials and employees is now, more than ever, under the microscope, and that no official decision can be taken without providing valid justifications.  It was also emphasized that the Ombudsman Bureau is as vital for the public institutions as it is for the citizens, as an impartial mediator that defends the administration’s position equally the same as it defends a citizen if their complaint is well-founded.

H.E. Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour indicated that the Ombudsman Bureau reinforces citizens’ trust towards the government and its public institutions, and in turn strengthens the values of citizenship; spreading the culture of the complaint, and ensuring citizens their rights.

The Workshop Discussion was not only beneficial in reflecting the Bureau’s role, accomplishments and successes, but also in terms of challenges in coordination and active integration with governmental agencies, and tackling these obstacles and challenges.
