The Ombudsman of the Solomon Islands published the first edition of the Office’s 2017 bi-annual newsletter. It has been quite a while since the last edition of the newsletter was published and the Office decided to revive the publication as an important platform to educate citizens on the roles of the Ombudsman.
In its July edition the Ombudsman’s newsletter welcomes the appointment and swearing in of the new Ombudsman, Mr Frederick Leve Fakarii on 11 May 2017, presents the Office’s different units (e.g. the Investigation Unit, the Legal Service Unit, the Cooperate Service Unit or the Governance Unit).
The newsletter also informs about the own motion investigations undertaken since 2010, a report published on the Kilu’ufi Psychiatric Mental Unit, various outreach and awareness programs and the Office’s newly developed Electronic Complaint Management System (CMS).
