The Office of the Catalan Ombudsman, as Catalan Authority for the Prevention of Torture and other Cruel, Inhumane or Degrading Treatment of Punishment (OPCAT), presented its OPCAT 2012 Annual Report to the Parliamentary Ombudsman Commission in April 2013.
The report informs about the activities carried out by the Catalan Ombudsman, reports on visits made (classified by type of center) and offers recommendations and general conclusions reached. The number of unannounced visits has doubled (36 compared to 17 of the last year) and the number of persons interviewed during these visits has also been increased.
