CANADA | Ombudsman Saskatchewan presents Annual Report 2012

The 2012 Annual Report of the Ombudsman Saskatchewan was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on 25 April. As one of the highlights, the report informs that two referrals to the Ombudsman’s office by cabinet ministers were made in 2012.

The Ombudsman was asked by the Minister of Health and the Chair of the Board of the Saskatoon Health Region to review the circumstances and processes by which 10 housing residents of St. Mary’s Villa in Humboldt were required to relocated, and all of the recommendations contained in the report of the Ombudsman were accepted by the Saskatoon Health Region and the Ministry of Health.

After several years of stability in the numbers of complaints, the Office of the Ombudsman Saskatchewan saw a 15 % increase in those numbers in 2012 and analysis of the office showed that this increase is due to a higher level of awareness of what the Ombudsman is and does.
